# Speaker Boehner’s Obama Impeachment Dress Rehearsal

***POLITICS-***After going out on a not-so-wobbly limb to suggest that Republicans would push to [impeach President Obama](http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/post-partisan/wp/2014/06/18/how-president-obama-will-be-impeached/) if they succeeded in retaking the Senate, George Will’s [Sunday column](http://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/george-f-will-stopping-a-lawless-president/2014/06/20/377c4d6e-f7e5-11e3-a3a5-42be35962a52_story.html) read like a real threat.
Fed up with what he views as Obama’s “[offenses against the separation of powers](http://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/george-will-obamas-extreme-use-of-executive-discretion/2013/12/18/656ae4be-680d-11e3-ae56-22de072140a2_story.html),” the conservative columnist advocated that Congress sue the executive branch to stop a lawless president. Yesterday, Speaker John Boehner told the House Republican caucus that he was contemplating such a step.
