# 3 Steps to Take to Stop the #TrumpTaxScam

RESISTANCE WATCH-- As Senate Republicans make a [speedy](https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2017-11-21/senate-releases-tax-bill-text-in-unusually-fast-march-to-vote) push to get their tax bill to a vote, the team behind the Indivisible Guide offered opponents of the proposal three concrete actions to take before the Thanksgiving holiday.
The suggestions, put forth in a series of tweets Wednesday morning, include calling senators' offices, reading up on the "tax scam" to be better armed to talk to family about the plan, and finding a local event to take part in the [day of action](https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2017/nov/18/the-resistance-now-activists-plan-to-protest-the-republican-tax-bill) scheduled for Monday, Nov. 27:
An [analysis](https://www.commondreams.org/news/2017/11/22/news/2017/11/21/new-report-details-13-terrible-things-about-senate-gop-tax-plan) out this week by Americans for Tax Fairness outlined "13 terrible things" about the Senate proposal, including that it gives most of the tax cuts to the richest 1percent and effectively makes seniors pay for tax breaks for corporations and the wealthy.
Despite numerous such analyses—which [counter](https://www.finance.senate.gov/chairmans-news/finance-committee-passes-historic-tax-overhaul) Republican claims—the Senate bill got a "[boost](http://thehill.com/policy/healthcare/361481-murkowski-supports-repealing-obamacare-mandate-in-boost-to-tax-reform)" on Tuesday after Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska) [announced](http://www.newsminer.com/opinion/community_perspectives/alaskan-senator-supports-free-choice-for-health-care/article_fb6235da-ce98-11e7-951c-db26231e7ffb.html) she supported her party's effort to repeal the Affordable Care Act's individual mandate.
"The mandate repeal now appears much more likely to stay in the bill, where it helps offset more than $300 billion in additional tax cuts," *Bloomberg* [reports](https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=2&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=0ahUKEwjAgo24zdLXAhWDm-AKHa2BCNUQFggrMAE&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.bloomberg.com%2Fnews%2Farticles%2F2017-11-22%2Ftax-bill-odds-improve-as-key-senator-backs-health-mandate-repeal&usg=AOvVaw11Zl8Bhzn7Kpl7A27tbrVN). "It's also crucial to President Donald Trump's goal of making corporate tax cuts permanent under the Senate's budget rules."

That should be more than enough."
Indivisible is [far from alone](https://www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-tax-democrats/democrats-advocacy-groups-launch-blitz-of-ads-attacking-tax-plan-idUSKBN1DM17F) in issuing a call to supporters to turn up the heat on lawmakers to stop the GOP tax plan.
In an email to supporters sent Wednesday morning, Our Revolution also [urged](https://go.ourrevolution.com/page/content/tax-plan/?source=em171122) people to call their senators to "stop Republicans from passing this tax scam bill."
"We need to start over with a tax plan that provides relief to middle and working class families and ensures that corporations and top earners pay their fair share. We have the power to stop it, but only if we work together," the email states.
The full Senate will likely vote on the plan next week.
