Will L.A.’s 2028 Olympic Agreement Address Homelessness and Jobs?
JOBS & HOMELESS - Few Angelenos are thinking about it yet, but seven years from now, the 2028 Olympics are on track to arrive in L.A.
Our mission is to promote and facilitate civic engagement and neighborhood empowerment, and to hold area government and its politicians accountable.

Politics. Perspective. Participation.
JOBS & HOMELESS - Few Angelenos are thinking about it yet, but seven years from now, the 2028 Olympics are on track to arrive in L.A.
THE DOCTOR IS IN - As much as we all pretty much understand how the COVID-19 pandemic has destroyed much of our civilized, law-abiding history and present-day ills, it's hard not to conclude that L.A.'s so-called "leadership" has presided, if not exploited, the lawlessness that took over during the psychological crisis that's taken most of us to the psychological, if not psychiatric cleaners.
ERIC PREVEN'S NOTEBOOK - Julia Louis-Dreyfus is set to star in the comedy Beth & Don.
SOUTH OF THE 10 - Dear 2UrbanGirls, Quick lesson here. As you may know, Karly Katona has been named “caretaker” of LA Council District 10, while Councilman Mark Ridley-Thomas fights federal corruption charges.
A VIEW FROM HERE - In reviewing the campaign statements for the Fab Four Los Angeles Mayoral Candidates (Bass, Buscaino, DeLeon and Feuer), there is no discernible policy difference. Thus, their campaigns are fungible.
EASTSIDER - I’ve written about this project a number of times since since it took off (without any real community input) in 2019.
HOUSING WATCH - In the interest of fairness, this piece was first offered to the publication in which the article being referenced first appeared, “Business Insider.”
THE DOCTOR IS IN - Like it or not, we just prevented and voted down a recall effort against Governor Gavin Newsom, in large part because the issues morphed from financial mismanagement, lack of infrastructure, an explosion of homelessness, and shoving of the middle class out of the Golden State...to a silly focus on vaccination by Larry Elder the main GOP challenger.
PLANNING WATCH - If you can pull yourself away from the daily concerns of many Angelenos, such as traffic jams and Amazon package thieves, you might have heard that life as we know it is at the brink because of a rapidly changing climate.
RANTZ & RAVEZ - Some Elected and appointed Los Angeles City Hall officials have clearly demonstrated they are out for themselves and lost their commitment to the Voters, Residents and Taxpayers of the once Proud and Internationally known City of the Angels…
DEEGAN ON LA—-Cigars are being metaphorically passed out by City Council.
MARC’S ANGle - With over 80 container ships just sitting at the Long Beach and Los Angeles ports, I connected with Emily Hibard’s paper manufacturing family business, which was forced to sell their old trucks, which she attributes to being a major contributor to the supply chain fiasco due to truck shortages.
A VIEW FROM HERE - When the most laudable candidate to be Los Angeles' next Mayor is unwilling to say whether the state’s criminal laws apply to the city council, we are doomed to continued rapacious lawlessness.
EASTSIDER - What does it say about the ethics of a Los Angeles mayoral candidate who capitalizes upon the suffering of the homeless to advance his/her career without discussing his/her role in creating the homeless crisis?
THE DOCTOR IS IN - For the past 20 years I sought to meet the needs of all L.A. City and County residents with respect to transportation, affordable housing, jobs, and just plain being HEARD.
SOUTH OF THE 10 - Former Stockton Mayor Michael Tubbs and his family have re-located to South LA despite misgivings of being perceived as a “gentrifier”, although he is busy behind the scenes pulling the strings on universal basic income programs sweeping the state of California (and Los Angeles).
CONNECTING CALIFORNIA - Ten Octobers ago, my family moved into our San Gabriel Valley home, and people started knocking on the door. Some knockers were neighbors. Some were trick-or-treaters. And some were looking for Steve.
HOUSING WATCH - I spend entirely too much time listening to experts in business, government, and academia explain the economy in general and the property market in particular.
PLANNING WATCH - Because Planning Watch columns present such a grim picture of life and City Hall politics in Los Angeles, I was pleasantly surprised to receive information on a proposed local ballot initiative that addresses some root causes of homelessness.
NEVER FORGET - It’s hard to tell a city’s story. In many cities, there’s a tension between pointing with pride and bowing in shame.
SOUTH OF THE 10 - Clippers owner Steve Ballmer has dropped $10,000 into Inglewood’s November 2 special election to raise taxes to assist with “easing traffic” related to the numerous sports venues located along Prairie Ave.
