MODERNISM IN THE DESERT - Modernism Week doesn’t ease into its annual celebration of design, culture, and Palm Springs cool — it **hits the dance floor running**.
Opening Night in February 2026 sets the tone with **Modernist Motown**, a high-energy celebration of music, style, and midcentury flair that promises to be one of the most talked-about events of the week. This is not just a party — it’s a full-scale immersion into retro soul, bold fashion, and the unmistakable glamour that defines Modernism Week.
From the moment guests arrive, the vibe is clear: think **rooftop-party energy meets classic Detroit soul**. A live band delivers wall-to-wall Motown hits — from The Supremes and Marvin Gaye to Stevie Wonder and The Temptations — creating a soundtrack designed to keep the dance floor packed all night long. Every song is a classic, every groove irresistible.
Adding to the excitement is DJ Modgirl, whose expertly curated sets blend seamlessly with live performances, alongside go-go dancers who bring kinetic energy and unmistakable midcentury-chic attitude to the night. The scene is awash in bold lighting, vintage cars, and stylish design touches that celebrate Palm Springs’ iconic aesthetic.
Hand-crafted cocktails flow freely, complemented by thoughtfully curated food stations that keep guests fueled for an evening of dancing, mingling, and people-watching. It’s the kind of night where sequins sparkle, conversation flows easily, and the spirit of Modernism Week comes fully alive.
Modernist Motown isn’t just about music — it’s about **community, creativity, and celebration**. It’s where architecture lovers, design insiders, artists, musicians, and visitors collide in a shared moment of joy and style. The event captures what makes Modernism Week special: a deep appreciation for the past paired with a vibrant, contemporary social scene.
Guests are encouraged to lean into the theme — break out the mod-inspired looks, channel Palm Springs glamour, and come ready to dance. This is the kickoff that sets the mood for the entire week ahead.
