CITYWATCH TODAY—Los Angeles Waterkeeper’s job is to restore LA’s bays and waterways keep them clean. The folks at Waterkeeper take their work seriously. And they will take you to court to prove it. Just ask California’s myriad water boards … due to meet the Waterkeeper folks in court one day soon. Waterkeeper Executive Director explains in today’s CityWatch lead.
A bunch of mega-developers around the state are looking for a shortcut and the California legislature is thinking about accommodating them. Beth Cone Kramer and Ken Alpern provide some perspective … and some heat … on this timely issue.
Thousands of tourists and residents can see the Hollywood Sign … some up close and personal. The traffic and turmoil those up close visits generate have the adjacent good neighbors at Lake Hollywood Estates on edge. It’s not just the activity, it’s the increased fire hazard and as the LHE residents watch the fire season unfold all around LA … well, you can understand their fears and, when it appears no one is listening, their pushback.
