CITYWATCH TODAY—It’s not a surprise that the Trumpster’s election victory on Tuesday has a fair number of California voters in various states of emotional distress. After all, more than 60% of the voters in the Golden State gave Secretary Clinton their blessing. It is also safe to say, a goodly number of those losers are looking for a way out of the gray … mood … they find themselves trapped in.
Some are figuratively thumbing through the myriad excellent post-election excuses, explanations, and elucidations in Today’s CityWatch. Some have slipped off their shoes, splashed an olive into a very dry martini, taken a deep breath and whispered to themselves … ‘Next!’ And then, discovered to yet more surprise … ‘next’ is already here.
Mayor Garcetti announced on Wednesday that he has filed and is ready to take on all comers in our next important election … just four (that’s 4) … months away. March 7, 2017. Next!
Former LA Mayor, Antonio Villaraigosa, surprised no one and announced for Governor on Thursday. That election happens in 2018. Next!
The word is that had Hillary won, these two announcements might not have been made even before California’s polling booths had been returned to storage. As they say, best way out of a funk is to put your mind to work on something hopeful.
Just like Las Vegas, roll a loser? Pick up the dice and roll again. Next! Lose an election? Pick up the dice and roll again. Lots of elections to choose from. Next!

THE BEAT GOES ON:
- Should the DWP Ratepayer’s Advocate be replaced by someone who feels an obligation to communicate with the ratepayers he’s advocating for?
- Does LA have too much parking?
- How did the art world get mixed up in the anti-gentrification battle in Boyle Heights?
- Why in the world are kids too young to vote tying up traffic on LA freeways?
… coming soon to a CityWatch posting near you.
