# CityWatch Today: The Hits Keep Coming

GUEST COMMENTARY--Whew. The [dominoes](https://thinkprogress.org/california-congressman-trump-supporter-indictment-duncan-hunter-d196824f77be/) of Trump World, in which MAGA just [became](https://twitter.com/hashtag/MyAttorneyGotArrested?src=hash)"My Attorney Got Arrested," are tumbling faster than you can say un-indicted co-conspirator. Because it can be tough to keep track of the latest escapades of the (albeit seriously inept) [criminal enterprise](https://twitter.com/nowthisnews/status/1032304641416077312) that is our government, an update.
In the [wake](https://twitter.com/hashtag/cohen?lang=en) of Michael Cohen pleading [guilty](http://www.13abc.com/content/news/Pres-Trumps-former-lawyer-pleads-guilty-implicates-president-491449401.html) to eight felony charges - from tax fraud to campaign finance violations, including the porn slush fund - more salacious [details ](https://qz.com/1365700/michael-cohen-plea-trumps-lawyer-evaded-taxes-paid-off-women/)of his finances emerged, like his Better-Call-Saul-flavored income from consulting on an assisted-living facility and the $30,000 he made for brokering the sale of one obscenely priced handbag.
Meanwhile, Trump - to whom Cohen [was](https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/1032247043992023040%20%E2%80%A6) long "a fine person...who I have always liked & respected" - quickly, [predictably](https://www.commondreams.org/further/2018/08/22/%20https%3A/www.thedailybeast.com/list-of-crooked-trump-associates-grows-paul-manafort-michael-cohen-michael-flynn-roger-stone?ref=home) and entirely without irony [threw ](https://www.commondreams.org/news/2018/08/22/trump-tells-people-serious-legal-peril-not-hire-lawyer-who-he-dutifully-employed)him under the bus; so [did](https://www.wsj.com/articles/why-michael-cohen-agreed-to-plead-guiltyand-implicate-the-president-1534987372?mod=e2tw) the owner of the National Enquirer, who gave prosecutors info about Cohen's payoffs to Trump's sexual victims as well as Trump's knowledge of them.
As Trump frantically [parroted ](https://www.mediamatters.org/blog/2018/08/22/trump-s-latest-bad-faith-legal-defense-comes-straight-his-media-sycophants/221069)the inane talking points of his Fox handlers at another surreal "rally" where he whined about "elites" - "I have many much more beautiful homes than they do" - the hits kept coming.
New York investigators subpoenaed Cohen in their probe of the Trump Foundation's "persistently illegal conduct"; a former Watergate prosecutor [said ](http://thehill.com/homenews/administration/403049-ex-watergate-prosecutor-trumps-legitimacy-as-president-must-be)it's time to question "the legitimacy of this presidency"; the lawyer for Summer Zervos, a Trump sexual victim, is [demanding ](https://abcnews.go.com/US/summer-zervos-demands-information-trump-accusers-defamation-suit/story?id=57321911)new information in her defamation suit against Trump; wiseacre activists are [projecting](https://globalnews.ca/news/4401306/trump-projections-hotel-washington/) "Felons Welcome," "Guilty" and "Criminal" on Trump's D.C. Hotel; Lanny Davis, Cohen's lawyer, has been [pummeled](https://www.commondreams.org/further/2018/08/22/%20https%3A/www.commondreams.org/news/2018/08/22/lanny-davis-begs-americans-donate-scumbag-michael-cohen-gofundme-truth-campaign) for [setting up](https://www.cnbc.com/2018/08/22/michael-cohen-lawyer-starts-gofundme-for-former-trump-attorney.html) a "[truth fund](https://www.gofundme.com/hqjupj-michael-cohen-truth-fund)" for his "suffering" scumbag client said to be worth over $2 million - a move widely deemed "peak 2018" - that has nonetheless raised over $120,000 from anonymous donors and the purported likes of Richard Nixon, Bugs Bunny, Melania Trump, Stormy Daniels, Hillary Clinton's Left Hook, Vladimir Putin, #Ismellfear and Trump Is Phucked; and a new poll [finds ](https://www.commondreams.org/further/2018/08/22/%20http%3A/thehill.com/homenews/news/403161-poll-mueller-approval-rating-jumps-by-11-points)Mueller's approval rating up by 11 points. The poll was by Fox News.
