# CityWatch Today: Reaping the Lunatic Whirlwind

GUEST COMMENTARY--From the drama of the hearing - Dr. Christine Ford's steadfast [calm](https://mashable.com/article/brett-kavanaugh-angry-reactions/#VowVZ7E6Agq5), Frat Boy Kavanaugh's [unglued, ](https://www.newyorker.com/news/current/brett-kavanaughs-adolescent-temper-tantrum-before-the-senate-judiciary-committee?mbid=social_facebook)partisan, [bullying,](https://www.washingtonpost.com/) entitled male rage, the deranged[ shrieks](https://www.vox.com/2018/9/27/17911604/kavanaugh-lindsey-graham-ford-hearings) of a handful of vile GOP relics - have come scraps of news. In an unprecedented step, the American Bar Association, whose once-unanimous, "well-qualified" rating Kavanaugh touted during one of his hissy fits, has [rescinded ](https://www.cnn.com/2018/09/27/politics/kavanaugh-american-bar-association/index.html)their endorsement, arguing the proceedings should be halted until the FBI investigates.
*America Magazine*, a major Catholic Jesuit publication, has[ called for ](https://www.americamagazine.org/politics-society/2018/09/27/editors-it-time-kavanaugh-nomination-be-withdrawn)Kavanaugh's nomination to be withdrawn.
And Tennessee's Bob Corker, after witnessing that hysterical, self-righteous, obfuscating, mansplaining performance by a guy clearly too unstable to manage a Cinnabon, never mind sit on the Supreme Court, inconceivably [said ](https://www.tennessean.com/story/news/2018/09/27/brett-kavanaugh-supreme-court-bob-corker-senator/1450347002/)he's voting yes.
For many of us, what lingers are the striking visuals of an ugly, surreal day when privilege met accountability and was some pissed, but America proved likely too broken to do right.
