The Worst Election Cycle I Can Remember - It’s Like Dumb and Dumber Meets Bad to Worse
I WON'T BE SILENT - Between the corruption swirling around the Democrat and Republican parties in the good old USA; Benjamin Netanyahu being stymied by the Arab voters in Israel, whose unprecedented turnout is shaping the potential outcome there and hopefully boxing him out altogether; the latest story about the Invasion of the Body Snatchers mess in Alaska; the lame choices in Texas; and the DSA shitstorm happening in pockets all around the country, I’m struggling to think of one race this doom and gloom election cycle where even one solitary candidate is worthy of my vote, let alone one I’d call venerable.
Take Alaska, please. Reports say Democratic campaign operatives tried to recruit a spoiler candidate to draw votes away from Republican Senator Dan Sullivan. The governor has ordered an investigation into this potential scam, and Trump is all up in their grill about it. If the allegations are true, it’s a disgraceful attempt to manipulate voters. A song and dance we’re all too familiar with. Then again, leave it to the Democrats to be embroiled in this kerfuffle while readily professing to be the innocent lambs against the big bad GOP wolves.
[SIDEBAR] Being a refugee from the Democrat party, I can see clearly now that the Dems are some like sheep than lambs.
Trump’s choice to back Ken Paxton was an idiotic move—and one more reason he’s still a gross baboon. But James Talarico is no bargain either. Putting him at the southern gateway to America will prove to be a pathetic repeat of Biden’s border policy, with a blind eye turned to it and all.
Let’s not forget the New York governor’s race. Kathy Hochul is way past her sell-by date. Toodles.
Michigan brings its own ugly mix of untrustworthy, soulless souls. The Senate campaign is built partly around whether Abdul El-Sayed is a “real doctor,” alongside the stench of alleged ties to Islamist organizations—claims he denies, with no evidence of a connection to the Muslim Brotherhood produced. Just because you can’t prove it doesn’t mean it’s not true. Not in this new, corrupt election machine running this country.
Meanwhile, an Ann Arbor mayoral candidate supported by Old Man Bernie Sanders featured a local DSA leader who had posted, “Love Hamas. Simple as.” Add the pro-Hamas voices appearing around the country, and it’s hard not to feel things are going off the rails. Those voices must be curtailed.
And let’s not get into Ukraine being in flames, along with Paris and Milan, though what we’re seeing is beginning to feel like a warning shot of what’s in store for us here. The world is on shaky ground as we see doomsday prophets on social media, warning everyone to stock up for the end-of-the-world scenario “coming soon.”
California is so far out of whack that, for now, I’m NOT leaving well enough alone—I’m watching to see just how badly the DSA chips fall. To which I say: here I’ll stay inside my comfortable bubble in Beverly Hills, watching our smoke-and-mirrors society of American hypocrisy crumble all around us.
My sister’s best response to me these days, whenever I share some news report or mention a social-media post, is: “So?”
It used to infuriate me because Vivian is brilliant, and I wanted to engage and argue about whatever story or claim I’d brought up. Now I’m beginning to see the light and beauty in her simple reply. She’s been telling us the truth for years: we’re on our own. It’s a hard pill to swallow, one I didn’t want to accept—but she’s right.
If you don’t see the sheer brilliance in those two simply stated facts, perhaps you’re so far inside the blue-wave bubble that you’ve lost the plot—and any hope of living your best life.
