Editor’s Memo: Crazy Idea

CITYWATCH TODAY—Neighborhoods getting a bunch of attention this CityWatch. For starters … and guaranteed to stir up more than a bit of angst … CityWatch columnist Bob Gelfand proposes a remodel of the neighborhood council election process. What, he asks, if voting at neighborhood council elections were limited to people living in the NC boundaries? Goodbye ‘stakeholder’. Hello debate. Where’s Greg Nelson when you need him?

The Wilmington neighborhood council, it appears, was given up for dead. Couldn’t find enough players to hold a meeting. What’s a neighborhood to do …when … actions speaking louder than words … it would seem no one in all of Wilmington gave a damn? Pull the plug? Go back to block clubs and homeowner associations? The folks in charge of empowerment say, ‘hold up a darn minute. This dog ain’t dead yet. Miracles DO happen.’ And, a call went out to LA’s Resuscitation Chief … Stephen Box, who else. Zamna Avila cover’s the story … inside and out … in today’s CityWatch.

Then, there’s the Battle of Beachwood in full swing just a stone’s throw from the Hollywood sign. The tourists … international and local … the Lake Hollywood Estaters, the Beachwood Canyon patriots. All upset. Some uptight. Threats. Lawsuits. Charges. It’s a war zone, and CityWatch’ troubleshooting video reporter and Millennial Project host … Andrew Davis … is in the zone and providing reports for CityWatch from the ‘front’.

And, that’s just for starters … in Today’s CityWatch. Check it out. Tell us what you think. We’re good listeners.
