Editor’s Memo: The Pot Prop, Why Now?

September 15 2016
Written by Ken Draper.

CITYWATCH TODAY—Prop 64 … The Pot Prop … will be on the California ballot this November. It would legalize marijuana. Word is it stands a good chance of being passed.

It’s not the first time an initiative to legalize pot has been on a California ballot. It’s the third. How does that happen? Voters say no in 1972 and 2010 but now appear to be ready to sign up? Columnist Doug Epperhart clears that dilemma up for us in Today’s CityWatch. Check it out.

Worth a click or two: Jill Stewart updates us on Neighborhood Integrity Initiative progress. You’ll be surprised. While you were out whining about the quality of our presidential candidates, Angelenos have been quietly jumping on the Preserve LA revolution.

Phil Brown offers up some new roadway architecture and explains why we don’t need Prop M. Sara Roos questions the City High Charter School closing … James Preston Allen takes Councilman Buscaino to task for ‘hiding the homeless’ … Denyse Selesnick wonders out loud about the phenomenon we all like so much … Next Door.

All of that … and more … in Today’s CityWatch. Let us know what you think.
